four icons by kyle tezak
Kyle Tezak decided to tell a story with just four icons. Brilliant idea!

real magick in theory and practise
Believed to be the most geometrically complex and aesthetically beautiful structure in mathematics, the 4_21 polytope is the algebraic form at the centre of a universal theory of everything. Originally described in the late 19th century, 4_21 models all interactions and transformations between known and postulated sub-atomic particles. It is the 21st century equivalent of the proto-scientific art of alchemy – where the transmutation of elements was the most elusive mystery of the universe. The theory is an attempt to reconcile one of the fundamental unsolved problems in physics: unify quantum physics and gravitation in hopes of ultimately explaining the fabric of the universe.
kate moross for firetrap
Kate Moross has a new collab with watch manufacturer Firetrap that is all colours and crazy graphics. ZAP!

edits by edit
A starkly graphic set of poster curated by Edit, where each designer was asked to represent a musical genre using one shape and one type (stating the genre).
the style registry
How did Fendi campaigns look like spring 1993? How Balenciaga was Balenciaga pre Nicolas Ghesquiere? More than a style touchstone and history lesson, this is a look back into graphic trends and social trends, (boobs / no boobs?), old logos, and how luxury was presented way back then. That is the magic of The Style Registry.
meat and bread
Glasfurd and Walker shows us how simple type and a keen sense of aesthetics creates an alluring sandwich shop identity, simply called Meat & Bread.
fedrigoni 2011 calendar
This is a gift that keeps giving! With 12 boxes, nested into one another like Russian dolls, Paul Betowski created a perfect calendar for Fedrigoni, the Italian paper mill, that shrinks as the year goes on “…like sand through the hourglass, these are the days of our lives…”
dopludό collective
Dopludό has an identity that changes and morphs and is just plain design fun!
søndervangskolen
Ivan Hvam Hvam has some great, wide ranging work on his site, from restaurants to eyewear. The one that caught my eye was the one for Søndervangskolen, a school in the Netherlands that has apparently suffered from bad reputation that caused a rapid decline in enrollment numbers. The resulting solution is fun, young and exciting, and is a great example showing how design and communication is integral for any business, even more so in education. Plus the logo on the ballon is simple adorable!
boutique cycles
I love how the long image is split into two to fit into the grid. I am very inspired… do this for urbantaster maybe? Plus just some really beautiful bicycles! via Gridness by Boutique Cycles
celestial cats
Cats and stars are a natural fit if you think about it. Both are as mysterious as they come, and most beautiful at night… via zipporalux
physical fiction – lego letterpress
Physical Fiction manages to combine the many loves of mine into one beautiful poster. Lego + letterpress + 8-bit graphics + bright colours? Its all there!
mind design – circus
Its amazing how a simple shape and a simple idea, with a simple link to the name can have such amazing and mind-boggling results! By mind design. I was still not completely sold on the idea… until the signages. WOW.
luciano drehmer
Luciano is quite the maverick when it comes to amazing colours and illustrations that just simply work. Simply beautiful infographics as well, in his, frankly, stunning portfolio of work spanning quite a few disciplines. His installation proposal is my favourite.
1976 montreal olympics basic logo standards
You will never see the Olympic logo used this way again, so feast your eyes. via the artist and his model + gridness
boarding pass / fail
Who said boarding passes have to be hideous, difficult to use, difficult to keep pieces of card? Especially not the people here.
tiana vasiljev
Tiana Vasiljev has a short and sweet portfolio filled and fun happy design!
the playground magazine
LBN has some super work up at their site, but the one I like the most is their design for The Playground Magazine.
13th street
A gleefully grotesque solution for a horror channel’s identity. Brilliant! via Behance
the lollipop shoppe by studiomakgill
Instead of the usual imagery associated with high end furnishings, StudioMakgill’s solution for The Lollipop Shoppe of simple stenciled line-art is both classy, fun and full of possibilities! via Graphic Exchange

the design society
If you have not heard, there is a new society in town that is all about promoting excellence and raising the profile of graphic design in Singapore. Below is The Design Society and their missions. Join them now!
We hope to address the current lack of serious discourse on the state of Singapore design through the publication of a periodical. Its contents should include academic writings, interviews, research, and the collection of information and artworks. We will also hold conferences, talks, seminars, roadshows and workshops with schools, institutions and corporations who wish to learn more about design.Celebrate & Recognize
We hope to hold our very own awards for Graphic Designers to give recognition to exceptional works in various categories of creative endeavour. Judging will be done by a peer-elected panel as well as accomplished and respected individuals from the international design community.
With greater connectedness, designers can participate in local, regional and international design and cultural activities. The Society will be the voice for Singapore design and initiate dialogue and exchanges with the worldwide design community.
movies to retro video game posters
How the transition happened I could never understand, but no less beautiful! via Penny Design
bausch + lomb
Loving the redesigned Bausch & Lomb identity and packaging. A breath of fresh aqua coloured air from non other than Pentagram.
