old time sling shot
Such a charming gift for everyone young at heart. Buy it at Hickoree’s.
This classic sling shot is hand made from branches of the Buckthorn bush, a European hedge plant commonly found in suburban neighborhoods in Minnesota, and now considered an invasive species. Buckthorn’s hard “Y” branches are perfect for sling shots, and harvesting Buckthorn wood helps with efforts to control the species.
Natural latex tubing and a leather projectile pouch are attached to the sling shot using sinew. A light coat of hand rubbed mineral oil brings out the natural beauty of the wood.

unpackaged
The greatest ideas are often the simplest. Case in point, Unpackaged. A newly opened grocery shop in London that decided to go to the source of most rubbish, food packaging, and presented Londoners an anti-packaging marketing alternative. Much like the ‘wet markets’ in Singapore. Brilliant! I say. via Inhabitat

issey miyake 24
Issey Miyake just launched a new shop type, mimicking the fast-moving stock situation found commonly in convenience stores. Simple and clean like all Japanese design, its not the retail store that makes me drool, but the custom pieces of furniture by Nendo that is giving me all sorts of chills. Modelled after the shopping baskets, Nendo used the wires as inspirations and made a series of furniture that, if for sale, I will buy the whole set right away! via Dezeen
