which cinderella are you?
In a relatively short span, two fashion big shots, Maison Martin Margiela and Christian Louboutin has announced glass slippers. Both unwearable but both equally beautiful. Which will you lose on the steps of the grand ballroom for your Prince Charming to find when the clock strikes 12?

drying up of public fountains

An interesting idea of how we are seeing less and less of public fountains plainly because the concept of “public” is no longer relevant. I blame the internet and the myriad of ways that we can now connect and communicate without being in each other’s spaces/faces. This article makes an interesting point comparing public fountains to bottled french spring waters, but I am quite sure that the implications go way deeper than that.
typeface or font
Its one of those things that has always confused me. Some part of me always knew they were different somewhat, but another part always assumed that that were just two words with the same. Well now the debate is (or has been) raging online! One of the more interesting reads is on Jontangerine. So what do you think? And more importantly, is Mutton Goat meat? Or Sheep meat?

mms advertising
Great idea for a use of medium in advertising, in this case a magazine advert paired with an MMS. You see the ad in the mag, you text to get the secret MMS to complete the picture, AXE deodorant gets your mobile number to text you more ads down the road. What I don’t get is how tenuous the link is between the message and the product. Just wished they saved this idea for a bit and used it for a more appropriate client.

word! tautology

ryan mcginley : moonmilk
My favouritest photographer of all time is having an exhibition at Alison Jacques Gallery of new work, under the name Moonmilk. What it actually is, is a series of rough rocks with smooth bodies, strange magical colours, lighting and smoke. Go over to Ryan McGinley.com to take a closer look.

papertower & supercell
My favourite architect, Shigeru Ban,and product designer, Marc Newson, were commisioned to design two freestanding structures for the London Design Week, with the brief of “pushing the boundaries of what materials can do”. The results are interesting, and reflective of each designer’s aesthetics and design language, but I just wish they could get these two opposing views to collaborate on one single piece. It would have been nice to see the contrast of Marc’s curves and Shigeru Ban’s clean lines intertwined and blended. via Moco Loco.
