pearl ring

Picture 1

By “turning the jewelery manufacturing process inside out”, Fang Studio carved a ring out of shell, then had it placed into an oyster, who proceeded to coat the entire thing in a pearl shell. Bloody amazing!

The one reason I love photography is how they could take something that you see every other day and make it so amazingly beautiful and out of the world that you try to pay more attention to whats around you. Take how Marcin Sacha takes Teletubby-like landscape and makes it a tapestry of colours and textures and dreams. Follow the jump for even more images.

Beware the moon has some really interesting wallpaper. I particularly love the skulls one. I mean, seriously, who does not want skulls on your wallpaper? Or that suave gentleman in front of it for that matter. :)

sour

without comments

This music video was filmed via webcams and the help of the band’s fans around the world! Amazing!

This music video was shot for Sour’s ‘Hibi no Neiro’ (Tone of everyday) from their first mini album ‘Water Flavor EP’. The cast were selected from the actual Sour fan base, from many countries around the world. Each person and scene was filmed purely via webcam.”

pee in the shower

shower

” You can save one flush a day by urinating in the shower—two if you shower more than once a day. Sure it’s gross, but unless you have an infection, your urine is sterile and nontoxic, and it washes down with your shampoo and soap anyway. An unscientific poll by Glamour magazine recently found that 75 percent of respondents do pee in the shower.

Savings Up to 6 gallons of water a day”

personal urns

without comments

IMG_0030web2

Now this blog has seen its fair share of weird, creep and strange things. But this has got to take the cake.

A personalisable urn, up to the neck, of the person you love, with his ashes within his head.

The head that will rest on your mantle piece.

Only the head.

HEAD.

The same head that will freak you out as you make your way to  the kitchen for a drink of water late at night. ’nuff said.

Brilliant advertising comes in many forms. Sometimes its the one ad with the catchy song that everyone loves. Sometimes its on the floor in the mall with a really smart message. Sometimes its this Pringles ad that made me walk to FairPrice to get me some. Yes. Advertising does work on me.

black & white clock

with one comment

img

Product designer Vadim Kibardin has some of the most amazing concepts not yet in production, which is quite a shame as my credit card was already out the minute I saw the image of the black and white clock. A clock and lights up when it is dark? Normal. One that turns black when the sun comes back on? This IS Consumption Junction, is it not?

woodnotes paper yarn products

Beach-Bag-1_398x314

Woodnotes makes the most incredible look, out of paper fabric products that are to die for. yes you read right! Paper spun into yarn, weaved into fabrics and made into bags, furniture, and carpets and all sorts! I am seriously considering a dark brown tote that looks just right for all kinds of city things a city guy like me would be up to.

Beautiful and simple is really difficult to come by, so when someone does it so well, we can only do it justice by celebrating it! (or by buying loads of their merchandise). I love the blackness. I love the simple idea. I love the “pentagram-ness”. The cultish sign, not the design firm. I love the way its extended. See Brand New for more insights.

a sony time capsule

without comments

504x_8ido18000001ver1

“On June 2, 1976, Sony assembled all its products at The National Stadium in Sendagaya, Tokyo. The objective was to take photos for use in company guides, pamphlets and other printed materials, as well as video footage to be used later for creating corporate promotional and video materials. It was an extremely busy day. Starting early in the morning, countless staff members brought in products, unpacked them, cleaned seats, set up products, then repacked and removed them once shooting was completed.

In 1976 (before the days of Walkman and Handycam) Sony’s mainstay product categories were radio, audio and television. Even so, gathering such a huge lineup of products in one place and arranging them in an orderly fashion created a truly grand sight. To do the same today with Sony’s current product line-up would surely create an even grander sight, but would almost certainly be impossible…”
